The legendary Judas Priest brought their Invincible Shield tour to Loveland, Colorado just north of Denver with Swedish titans Sabaton opening the October 20, 2024 show.
Sabaton
There were plenty of Sabaton shirts in the crowd and a lot of people already in their seats when the band hit the stage. Those not familiar with the group were quickly converted by Sabaton’s catchy songs and high energy performance. Frontman Joakim Broden always seem to be in a great mood, and the rest of the band fed off his energy during the hour-long set featuring songs from throughout their career. Broden even played a Hello Kitty guitar during “Resist And Bite.”
They played the title track from their debut album Primo Victoria, and also played songs from their newest album The War To End All Wars. Sabaton’s songs are about war and battles, with the members decked out in camouflage and a drum riser that looks like a tank. As they always do, Sabaton set a high bar, but Judas Priest took things to another level.

Rob Halford is 73 years old with a long white beard, but there’s no doubt he’s still the Metal God. From the opening track “Panic Attack” from Invincible Shield Halford, clad in leather, nails the high notes.
The band’s live lineup, which also includes guitarists Richie Faulkner and Andy Sneap, bassist Ian Hill (Priest’s longest tenured member) and drummer Scott Travis, blazed through the 18 song set. It was the best of both worlds, with a couple new songs including “Crown Of Horns” and plenty of classics like “Breaking The Law,” “Turbo Lover” and closer “Living After Midnight.”
Seeing one of metal’s all-time great bands play live is an honor, appreciating the incredible music they have created for half a century. What makes Priest even more special is that they are no legacy act, resting on their laurels. They continue to write interesting new material, and here’s hoping they are around for another 50 years!
