The French group Seven Metal Sins are this week’s featured Meet The Band artist. Their debut full-length album is Legacy Of Chaos. Vocalist Claw-G and drummer Patrick Soria introduce us to their band.
Chad Bowar: Give us a brief history of Seven Metal Sins.
Patrick Soria: The band was born in April 2024 from the reunion of ex-Manigance’s former rhythm section, Stephane Lacoude on Bass and me on drums (also in Killers for 10 years). We were quickly joined by Antton Iriart on guitars, known for his work with Vini del Rio. We started to compose a few songs and tried different singers, and Claw joined us in December 2024. It really matched the voice we were looking for. After a few other guitar players, Fred Auclerc arrived in March 2025. And we’ve been writing songs for the album since then. The album was released on the 5th of June.
Describe the songwriting process for Legacy Of Chaos.
Claw-G: Antton is the instrumental creative force of the band. After Fred joined, they shared the songwriting. They usually come up with riffs and song ideas, which we all discuss and gradually develop. Everyone contributes to perfecting each track. The lyrics come last.
What will be your strongest memory of the recording of the album?
Patrick: A great moment in the recording of the album was when Claw recorded the track “King Of Sorrow.” His voice on it really gave strength to this track and brought back great emotions. It wasn’t easy for us to propose a ballad in this album, and I must admit that the result is really great.
What was the biggest challenge in its creation?
Patrick: The biggest challenge of this project is getting back on stage as soon as possible and not leaving too much time between our return. When you’re not active, it’s easy to forget about you, which is understandable, so two years of work were necessary to make this comeback a success, at least, that’s what we hope!
How would you characterize its style/sound?
Patrick: We play a heavy/power metal style with a raw and cutting sound. We’re often categorized as having a very German style, straightforward, raw, and effective, in the spirit of cult bands like Accept, Grave Digger, Primal Fear, or even Judas Priest, Firewind. I think our metal reflects all the energy of the band, without frills or compromises.
What inspired the album title?
Claw: The title Legacy Of Chaos comes from the realization that we are a species that keeps passing down its ruins to the next generation. We’re inheriting a world that’s already on fire. It’s about the burden of that inheritance.
What lyrical topics do you cover?
Claw: Most of the songs are inspired by the state of our world, environmental inaction, greed, war, authoritarianism, the destruction of our planet’s resources, and so on. I felt that our music had the rage needed to express these frustrations. And I blend these themes with science fiction and dystopia to warn against possible futures.
How were the video shoots for “Rise Of The Phoenix” and “Hypocrisy”?
Claw: Fun fact is that we met Fred in the flesh, the last comer to the band, the day we filmed “Hypocrisy,” so it was definitely a leap of faith for him and us, and it turned out great. For “Rise of the Phoenix” we took a completely DIY approach. it was a lower-budget video, where we filmed ourselves in our own home studios and produced the entire thing ourselves.
How did you come to sign with Rockshots Records?
Patrick: Signing with Rockshots Records was a breeze. We contacted them and sent three tracks to see if they were interested in signing us. The label knew us from having worked with them on an English version of our previous band’s music. They immediately connected with our music, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Roberto, with whom we’ve been collaborating ever since. It’s a very reputable label, and we’ve been in close contact ever since.
What are your goals and expectations for the album?
Patrick: Our goals are that this album is really well received by our fans and that it clearly shows who Seven Metal Sins is, with its own music and its own energy that we will transmit during our concerts.
What has been your most memorable Seven Metal Sins live show?
Claw: We just started playing shows with the band, so I would say the first one was the most memorable, seeing people react to these songs even before the album release was priceless.
What are your upcoming show/tour plans?
Patrick: We have a few dates booked in the south of France and, of course, our participation in the Mennecy Metal Fest in September. Two other festivals are practically confirmed for 2027. We’re making progress little by little, but it’s very encouraging for the band.
What are some of your non-musical interests and hobbies?
Claw: Movies and visual effects.
Patrick: Cinéma, multimedia creations, watching good rugby matches, and good drinks with friends!
What’s currently in your musical heavy rotation?
Claw: Jelusick, Symphony X, Elegant Weapons.
Patrick: Arch Enemy, Primal Fear, Beast in Black, Titan ( our friends ).
Anything else you’d like to mention or promote?
Patrick: First of all, thank you for granting us this interview, and we’re open to any proposals for concerts or festivals in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you at our next concerts, and we’ll do our best to share the incredible energy that drives us. See you very soon!
